Decoy JS-2 Cutlass Jigging Hooks

The Decoy JS-2 Cutlass is an exceptionally strong single jigging hook designed for serious saltwater fishing. It is a hook I use myself for rigging metal lures when fishing for powerful tropical species in Panama and elsewhere around the world.

These are ideal for making your own assist hooks or replacing hooks on heavy metal jigs where strength, penetration and dependable hook-holding ability are essential. Decoy specifically designed the JS-2 as an eyed assist hook for targeting powerful fish from the bottom through to mid-water.

For the larger 7/0, 8/0 and 10/0 sizes, Decoy uses its M1J material together with a Shell Point, designed specifically to prioritise penetration. The hook also has a relatively long bite from the point into the bend, helping it hold securely once a fish is hooked. The eye is smoothly finished using Decoy's Solid System to reduce potential damage to the assist cord.

Mick's Tip

I use the JS-2 Cutlass myself when fitting hooks to my tropical fishing metals, particularly when I'm fishing in Panama and other destinations where you simply can't afford to use an underpowered hook.

Don't overlook the larger sizes for UK bluefin tuna either. I am quite happy using the 8/0 and 10/0 JS-2 Cutlass for bluefin when fishing with a powerful fixed-spool or stand-up outfit. They are extremely strong hooks without being unnecessarily complicated.

For me, this is exactly the sort of hook you want when a jig could be eaten by anything from a powerful amberjack or other tropical predator to a bluefin tuna.
