The Xorus Patchinko 85 is the baby of the Patchinko family and a superb little surface lure for bass, particularly when the fish are feeding on small bait.

I can see this size being extremely popular with anglers fishing estuaries, coves and other sheltered areas where small shoals of baitfish are being ambushed by bass. At only 85mm it gives you a much smaller and more subtle presentation than the larger Patchinkos, but don't be fooled by its size — big fish eat small fish!

Despite its small profile, you still get the classic Patchinko action. It's extremely easy to walk from side to side with small twitches of the rod tip, producing that lovely walking, sliding and dipping action across the surface.

The Patchinko 85 really comes into its own when bass are concentrating on tiny baitfish and larger surface lures just look out of place. It's also a great option for shallower water and calmer conditions where a smaller, more delicate presentation can make all the difference.

Don't automatically reach for a big surface lure when you're looking for a big bass. If the fish are feeding on tiny bait in an estuary or cove, matching the size of what they're actually eating can be far more important. Big fish eat small fish!
