The Xorus Asturie 130 is the big brother of the hugely popular Asturie 90 and 110, giving you a larger 130mm profile and a substantial 27g casting weight.

What makes the Asturie particularly interesting is that it isn't restricted to fishing right on the surface. Work it as a traditional topwater lure and it will slide from side to side, but change the retrieve and the lure can also dip and swim just below the surface, down to around a foot or two.

The action is what I would describe as a long slide — essentially a slower, longer and more sweeping version of the traditional walk-the-dog zigzag. Rather than constantly darting from side to side, the Asturie can be made to glide and slide across the water with a lovely wide action.

At 130mm and 27g, the Asturie 130 also gives you plenty of presence and good casting ability, making it a very useful lure when you need to cover water or want something a little larger to attract the attention of bass.

It's that ability to work both on and just under the surface that makes the Asturie different. You can vary the retrieve and presentation rather than being committed to fishing one particular depth.

Mick's Tip

Don't fish the Asturie 130 exactly like a conventional walk-the-dog lure. Give it a little more time between movements and let it make those longer sweeping slides. I also like the fact that you can get it to dip below the surface during the retrieve — changing between surface and subsurface can be just the thing to trigger a following bass.
