The Xorus Asturie 110 is the smaller brother of the popular Asturie 130 and 150, giving you the same versatile surface and subsurface action in a more compact 110mm profile.

Although primarily regarded as a surface lure, the Asturie is a little different to a conventional topwater lure. During the retrieve it can dip and tumble below the surface, fishing down to around a foot or two depending on how you work it.

You can fish the Asturie 110 with a classic walk-the-dog retrieve, working it from side to side across the surface, but we've found another retrieve particularly effective with this smaller model.

Try working it quite fast and erratically, allowing the lure to tumble around in a really panicked and unpredictable way. It doesn't necessarily look neat or controlled — and that's the point. We've found this frantic action can drive bass crazy and trigger some very aggressive takes.

At 110mm and 16.5g, it's a great size for general bass fishing, particularly when you want something smaller than the 130 or 150 but still want the distinctive Asturie action.

Mick's Tip

With the Asturie 110, don't be afraid to forget about making the lure perform a perfect walk-the-dog action. Speed it up and make it look panicked. We've found that a fast, erratic retrieve where the lure tumbles around and occasionally dips under the surface can be absolutely deadly.
