The Tenryu Spike XPG SKX832S-HH was a rod we specifically chose to fill an important gap in our range. Whilst our heavier XPG models are perfect for casting at larger Bluefin Tuna, we wanted a lighter option for those days when the fish you're seeing are smaller and a more balanced outfit makes the fishing far more enjoyable.
At 8ft 3in (2.52m), the SKX832S-HH offers excellent casting performance with smaller stickbaits, poppers and metal lures, while still retaining the power Tenryu rods are renowned for. It has plenty of backbone to handle hard-fighting UK Bluefin Tuna, yet remains light, responsive and enjoyable to fish with all day. We are looking for those tuna in the 50lb to 100lb+ or so bracket, which we are seeing more of in the last year or two here in Jersey.
Away from UK waters, this rod also makes an outstanding intermediate-to-heavy tropical casting rod. It has the strength needed to tackle powerful species including Roosterfish, Amberjack and Cubera Snapper, making it an incredibly versatile choice for anglers planning overseas adventures.
