Description
Shimano Stella SW 6000 XG D
The Shimano Stella SW 6000 XG D is the latest addition to Shimano's flagship saltwater spinning reel range and, in my opinion, one of the most versatile models they've ever produced. Sitting between the lighter inshore sizes and the larger offshore models, the 6000 XG is perfectly suited to anglers targeting powerful fish without the weight of the bigger Stella SW reels.
This is the model I personally use in Panama on my "light" tropical outfit, paired with a Tenryu Red Light 90g casting rod, and it has proved to be an exceptional combination. Whether casting surface lures or sinking stickbaits, it has all the power, smoothness and reliability you would expect from Shimano's flagship reel, whilst remaining comfortable enough to fish with all day.
For UK anglers, the Stella SW 6000 XG D is an outstanding choice for targeting our largest bass, pollack and cod, especially when fishing heavier lures around rough ground or offshore reefs. Overseas, it is perfectly at home tackling roosterfish, amberjack, trevally species, smaller tuna species, cubera snapper and countless other hard-fighting tropical fish.
Featuring Shimano's latest InfinityXross, Infinity Drive, Silent Drive, X-Protect and X-Shield technologies, the Stella SW D delivers incredible cranking power, silky smooth winding and outstanding durability in harsh saltwater environments. The fast 6.2:1 XG gearing retrieves over 113cm of line per turn, making it ideal for working stickbaits, poppers and fast-moving metal lures.
If you're looking for a premium reel that bridges the gap between heavy UK lure fishing and light tropical adventures, the Stella SW 6000 XG D is difficult to beat.
