Description
Shimano Stella SW 18000 HG D
The Shimano Stella SW 18000 HG D is built for anglers chasing the biggest and hardest-fighting fish on the planet. Combining Shimano's latest flagship technology with incredible cranking power, immense drag performance and legendary reliability, this is a reel designed for serious big game anglers who simply can't afford equipment failure.
The previous Stella SW 18000 C has been my personal choice for several years and has travelled with me around the world. I've fished it for Giant Trevally in Oman, huge Cubera Snapper in Panama, and, of course, Bluefin Tuna here in Jersey. Loaded with PE8 braid, it has proven to be an exceptional setup for everything I've asked of it. The new D Series builds upon that already outstanding platform, making one of the world's finest saltwater spinning reels even better.
For UK anglers, the Stella SW 18000 HG D is one of the ultimate choices for Bluefin Tuna, offering the perfect combination of power, line capacity and casting performance for large stickbaits, poppers and heavy metal lures. Overseas, it is equally at home tackling Giant Trevally, huge Amberjack, Giant Grouper, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna and large Cubera Snapper, giving anglers complete confidence when targeting true bucket-list species.
The 5.7:1 High Gear retrieve offers an ideal balance between lure speed and winding power, allowing you to work surface lures efficiently while still having the torque needed when a fish dives deep or powers towards structure. Shimano's latest InfinityXross, Infinity Drive, Silent Drive, X-Protect and X-Shield technologies deliver remarkable smoothness under extreme loads, while the rigid HAGANE Body ensures maximum strength when every turn of the handle counts.
If you're looking for one reel that can confidently fish for UK Bluefin Tuna before heading overseas in search of the world's toughest saltwater species, the Shimano Stella SW 18000 HG D is one of the very best investments you'll ever make.
