Savage Gear ISP Seeker 28g – Shore Jigging Metal Lure
In my opinion, the Savage Gear ISP Seeker, along with its bigger brother the Surf Seeker, is simply one of the best metal lures available for shore jigging.
I've fished these myself from our beaches here in Jersey, and there's a lot to like about them. They cast superbly, have a beautiful fluttering action through the water and, most importantly, they catch fish!
The 28g ISP Seeker is an excellent choice when you need that extra bit of casting distance, particularly when fishing into a breeze or trying to reach fish feeding further offshore. The additional weight also makes it easier to maintain contact with the lure in deeper water or stronger tidal flow.
One of the things that makes the Seeker so effective is its action. On a steady retrieve it produces an enticing swimming movement, but when you pause or allow it to sink, it flutters beautifully, imitating an injured or disorientated baitfish.
You can fish it with a simple straight retrieve, vary the speed, or work it with lifts and drops of the rod tip. Don't underestimate that flutter on the drop, as this is often when a fish will strike.
Mick's Tip
I've used these Seekers myself from the beaches here in Jersey, and one thing I always do is swap the treble hook for the single hook supplied with the lure.
I find a single hook much better when fishing over snaggy ground or when there's weed about, as there's less chance of picking up weed or catching the bottom. I also find that once a fish is hooked, the single gives me a better, more secure hook hold, particularly when playing a decent fish in the surf.
It's a simple change, but one I'd definitely recommend trying.
