What really caught my attention with these new Savage Gear jigs is their versatility. The 130g version offers a useful option for anglers wanting a substantial metal jig without necessarily stepping up to the heavier 150g model.

Slow Jigging: Work the jig with controlled lifts and pauses, allowing the asymmetrical body to flutter and flash on the descent. An excellent way of presenting a lure to fish holding close to the bottom or suspended in the water column.

Speed Jigging: Increase the pace with faster rod lifts and reel turns to produce an aggressive, erratic swimming action. Particularly interesting when targeting actively feeding saltwater predators.

Vertical Jigging: The 130g weight makes this an appealing option for fishing offshore marks, reefs and wrecks, provided the depth and tidal conditions allow you to maintain good contact with the jig.

Strong Twin 3/0 Assist Hooks

Mick's Tip

I really like the look of these new 3D Anchovy Jigs. The combination of a realistic profile and an asymmetrical body should make them useful for several different jigging techniques.

I can see myself using the 130g version when I want something slightly lighter than the 150g, particularly when conditions allow me to slow things down and take advantage of that fluttering action on the drop.

Equally, I wouldn't hesitate to work one much faster when the fish are feeding aggressively.

A very interesting all-round jig from Savage Gear, and one I'm looking forward to testing both at home and on my travels!
