Explorer Tackle Ball Bearing Swivels – Black Nickel
These Explorer Tackle Ball Bearing Swivels are a seriously strong, compact swivel that I use myself when I want a reliable connection between my leader and lure.
One of my favourite ways of attaching heavy casting lures is to combine a quality ball bearing swivel with a strong forged split ring. It gives you a neat, incredibly strong connection while making lure changes quick and easy without worrying about the strength of a snap=link or similar.
I've personally used this set-up when fishing for 100lb+ GT in Oman and Bluefin Tuna in Gibraltar, as well as Amberjack and Roosterfish in Panama. When you're casting at fish like these, your terminal tackle simply can't be the weak point.
The smooth ball bearing action also allows the swivel to rotate freely under load, helping reduce unwanted twist in your leader and main line.
Mick's Tip:
I love using these with a decent forged split ring for attaching my casting lures. For me it's one of the simplest and most dependable connections for serious big-fish lure fishing. A good ball bearing swivel and forged split ring is about as bombproof as I want my terminal tackle to be when I'm searching for some of the ocean's hardest fighters.
