Description
DUO Tide Minnow Sprat 140SF – 140mm 24.5g
The DUO Tide Minnow Sprat 140SF is a superb Japanese hard lure for bass fishing, particularly when fishing in tidal currents, rougher seas and moving water.
I've always been a huge fan of the DUO Tide Minnow range. In my opinion, these are some of the most effective hard lures you can use when there's a bit of tide running, and they really deserve to be far more popular here in the UK.
The clue is in the name – TIDE Minnow!
If you're fishing a mark with a decent tidal flow and you're scratching your head wondering which lure to clip on, remember the Tide Minnow. These lures are fantastic in current, maintaining their action and stability in conditions where some other minnows struggle.
The Sprat 140SF has a beautifully balanced swimming action with an exaggerated wobble that really brings the lure to life. Its internal weight-transfer system uses three ball bearings to help achieve excellent casting distances while maintaining stability during the retrieve.
One of my favourite features is its Slow Floating (SF) design. When you stop retrieving, rather than quickly rising towards the surface, the Sprat rises incredibly slowly, almost suspending in the water.
This allows you to work the lure with pauses, changes of speed and little twitches, keeping it in the strike zone for longer. That moment when the lure stops swimming and hangs almost motionless can be absolutely deadly for triggering a following bass into attacking.
It's a brilliant lure for working across tidal flows, along current seams and around rocky marks where moving water concentrates baitfish.

Mick's Tip
If there's one thing I'd like more bass anglers to remember, it's just how effective the Tide Minnow range is in moving water.
You don't always need to work these lures aggressively. Try casting across the tide and allowing the current to help bring the lure to life, keeping in contact with it as it works through the flow.
Vary your retrieve, introduce the odd pause and let that lovely slow-floating action do its job.
If you've got tide running and you're unsure what lure to use, reach for a Tide Minnow. They're made for it!
