Decoy Y-W77 Treble Hooks – Patchinko 100 Replacement Trebles

The Decoy Y-W77 Treble Hook is a strong, compact treble featuring a distinctive, heavily in-turned hook point, designed to provide a secure hook hold on hard-fighting fish.

These are the treble hooks fitted to the popular Xorus Patchinko 85 and Patchinko 100 surface lures, making them an ideal replacement when your original hooks become worn, damaged or blunt.

The Y-W77 features a slightly heavier wire gauge than some of Decoy's lighter Y-S and T-S treble patterns, while remaining compact and light enough for use on smaller hard lures.

Why the In-Turned Hook Points?

One of the most distinctive features of the Y-W77 is its pronounced inward-curving hook points.

This design is intended to help maintain a secure hook hold once a fish is hooked, particularly when fighting species such as bass that can shake their heads violently in an attempt to throw the lure.

The inward-facing points can also be a little less prone to catching weed and other underwater obstructions than more exposed straight-point patterns, although these are still exposed treble hooks and certainly aren't snag-free.

The combination of a compact shape, strong wire and secure hook hold makes the Y-W77 a useful choice for smaller surface plugs and hard lures, both here in the UK and when targeting smaller tropical predators abroad.

The main reason I stock the Decoy Y-W77 is that they're the hooks fitted to the Xorus Patchinko 85 and Patchinko 100.

These are hugely popular small surface lures, and it's always handy to have the correct hook pattern available when the originals need replacing.

What I particularly like about the Y-W77 is the very pronounced inward curve of the hook points.

Bass can be terrible head shakers, especially when hooked on small surface lures, and this style of hook is designed to help maintain a secure hold throughout the fight.

If you're replacing the hooks on your Patchinko, remember to match the original hook size as well as the pattern. Using a larger or heavier treble can affect the balance and surface action of these smaller lures.
