Decoy Y-S81 Treble Hooks – Heavy Duty Saltwater Trebles

The Decoy Y-S81 Treble Hook is a strong, sharp and beautifully designed treble hook, ideal for upgrading hard diving minnows, surface plugs and other lures used when targeting powerful, hard-fighting fish.

Built with high-strength wire, the Y-S81 offers increased strength over conventional trebles without the need for excessively thick wire. This makes it an excellent choice for anglers fishing with powerful rods, braided lines and heavier drag settings.

One feature we particularly like is the slightly longer shank. This allows the hook to sit neatly alongside the body of many hard lures, especially diving minnows and surface plugs, providing a well-balanced hook arrangement.

The Y-S81 also features straight, needle-sharp hook points, rather than the inward-curving points found on some other treble designs. These offer excellent initial penetration, particularly useful when fish are making tentative or finicky strikes.

Another clever feature is Decoy's split ring-friendly hook eye, designed with a thinner section that makes fitting the hook onto a split ring considerably easier.

Mick's Tip

I use the Decoy Y-S81 myself on some of my tropical lures when fishing abroad.

I particularly like the slightly longer shank, which allows the trebles to sit beautifully along the body of diving minnows and surface lures.

I'm also a fan of the straight hook points. Personally, I find these can be particularly effective when fish are being finicky and not fully committing to a lure. A straight point can catch hold quickly on those tentative strikes.

A very nice treble for upgrading your favourite hard lures, especially when you need a strong hook without going unnecessarily heavy on the wire.
