Decoy Y-S22 HD Treble Hooks – Heavy Duty Tropical Trebles

The Decoy Y-S22 HD Treble Hook is a seriously strong, heavy-duty treble designed for anglers targeting powerful, hard-fighting fish on artificial lures.

Based on the hugely popular Decoy Y-S21 treble, the Y-S22 HD is the beefed-up version, built to cope with the demands of tropical saltwater fishing and big cold-water predators.

Featuring a short shank and inward-curving hook points, the Y-S22 HD offers a compact, powerful hook design that is particularly well suited to hard diving minnows, surface plugs and other lures used for targeting aggressive predatory fish.

The in-turned points are an important feature. Once a fish is securely hooked, this design can help maintain a firm hold during prolonged fights, particularly when dealing with powerful, head-shaking species.

The shorter shank also keeps the hook arrangement compact, making these trebles an excellent option for upgrading hard lures without unnecessarily increasing the overall length of the hook.

Whether you're targeting tuna, trevally and other tropical predators or powerful cold-water species, the Decoy Y-S22 HD is an excellent choice when hook strength and reliability are essential.

Mick's Tip

These are the treble hooks I use on nearly all my tropical hard lures when fishing in places like Oman and Panama.

I particularly like the combination of the short shank and the slightly turned-in hook points.

When you're fighting powerful fish such as small tuna and trevally, they can shake their heads violently, putting enormous pressure on the hooks. In my experience, the inward-curving points of the Y-S22 HD help keep these fish securely hooked throughout the fight.

It's one of the main reasons I favour this pattern for most of my tropical lure fishing.

If I'm looking for a straight-point treble, I'll often choose the Decoy Y-S81, but for my general tropical hard lure fishing, the Y-S22 HD is my go-to treble hook.

One final tip: when upgrading your lure hooks, try to keep the replacement hooks reasonably close to the weight of the originals, as excessively heavy trebles can affect the swimming action of some lures.
