Description
Decoy JS-1 Jigging Single Hooks – Heavy Duty Inline Lure Hooks
The Decoy JS-1 Jigging Single is an exceptionally strong, wide-gape single hook, originally designed for jigging but also an excellent choice for replacing treble hooks on hard lures when targeting powerful, hard-fighting fish.
These are serious hooks, built for demanding saltwater fishing where strength, sharpness and reliable hook holds are essential.
Although developed for jigging applications, the JS-1 has become a favourite of anglers looking to upgrade their tropical casting lures, diving minnows and surface plugs with strong single hooks.
Heavy Duty Strength for Powerful Fish
The Decoy JS-1 features a robust construction and generous hook gape, making it particularly well suited to targeting species such as giant trevally, jack crevalle, roosterfish, tuna and other powerful saltwater predators.
The wide gape provides plenty of clearance for the hook point to find a secure hold, particularly important when fishing with larger hard lures and heavier tackle.
When fitted correctly, these hooks offer an excellent alternative to conventional trebles, with the added advantage of having fewer exposed hook points to contend with when landing and unhooking powerful fish.
Ideal for Converting Hard Lures to Singles
While the JS-1 was originally designed as a jigging hook, its strength and wide-gape design make it a very useful option for replacing trebles on suitable hard lures.
Many anglers prefer singles when fishing for large tropical predators, particularly when fish are likely to make powerful runs, change direction suddenly or shake their heads violently during the fight.
Single hooks can also make unhooking considerably easier, especially when dealing with large, lively fish alongside the boat.
As with any treble-to-single conversion, it's important to select the correct hook size and weight to maintain the lure's balance and swimming action.

Mick's Tip
I've used the Decoy JS-1 extensively on my tropical fishing trips, and these hooks have been absolutely brilliant.
I've caught some seriously powerful fish on them, including big trevally, jacks and even one of my roosterfish in Panama.
Although they're designed as jigging hooks, I use them as replacement singles on some of my tropical hard lures, where I want a really strong hook with a generous gape.
One thing I particularly like is the confidence they give me when a powerful fish is hooked. When you're fishing heavy tackle and a big trevally or roosterfish is pulling hard, the last thing you want to worry about is your hooks.
I've never had one of these hooks let me down, which is about as good a recommendation as I can give from my own fishing experience.
For anglers looking to upgrade their hard lures for tropical fishing, these are definitely worth considering. And if they're capable of handling the fish I've caught on them abroad, they're certainly worth a look for demanding UK lure fishing too.
