Cox & Rawle Circle Hook Extra – Live Bait Bridle Rigs

Ready-rigged circle hooks for live bait fishing for Bluefin Tuna and other large saltwater predators.

With live bait fishing for Atlantic Bluefin Tuna becoming increasingly popular around the UK and Channel Islands, these Cox & Rawle Circle Hook Bridle Rigs are an excellent addition to any serious tuna angler's tackle box.

One of the biggest challenges when live baiting is keeping your baitfish alive, healthy and swimming naturally for as long as possible. That's where a bridle rig really comes into its own.

Rather than passing a large hook directly through the baitfish, the bridle allows the bait to be attached externally, reducing the damage caused by conventional hook placement. This can help keep your live bait in better condition for longer, allowing it to swim more freely and naturally.

A lively baitfish is exactly what you want when a hungry Bluefin Tuna is hunting!

Cox & Rawle CR45 Mutsu Circle Extra Hooks

These rigs are assembled using the strong Cox & Rawle CR45 Mutsu Circle Extra hooks, featuring an offset circle hook design intended to provide secure hook holds on powerful saltwater predators.

Circle hooks are particularly well suited to live bait fishing. Rather than striking hard when a fish takes the bait, the angler allows the line to tighten steadily, encouraging the hook to turn and take hold around the corner of the fish's mouth.

This makes them an excellent choice for targeting powerful species such as Atlantic Bluefin Tuna.

Why Use a Live Bait Bridle Rig?

• Helps keep live bait alive longer – reduces the need to pass a large hook directly through the baitfish.

• More natural bait presentation – allows the baitfish greater freedom of movement.

• Improved hook exposure – keeps the circle hook separate from the baitfish rather than buried in its body.

• Strong circle hook design – Cox & Rawle CR45 Mutsu Circle Extra hooks for demanding saltwater fishing.

• Ready assembled – supplied with the bridle attachment already fitted, saving time when preparing your live bait rigs.

Mick's Tip

When live baiting for Bluefin Tuna, keeping your baitfish in good condition is incredibly important. A weak or damaged baitfish simply won't swim or behave as naturally as a healthy one.

That's the real attraction of these bridle rigs. By keeping the hook outside the baitfish, you can reduce unnecessary damage and give your live bait a better chance of staying lively for longer.

And remember, when fishing circle hooks, avoid the temptation to strike hard. Let the fish take the bait and allow the line to tighten progressively to help the hook find its hold.
