I've used YGK braided lines extensively, and Castman Blue Special is one I have enormous confidence in. When you're fishing for powerful species, particularly overseas, the last thing you want to be worrying about is whether your braid is up to the job.

I use two different strengths of Castman Blue Special on my own heavier setups.

PE#4 – 62lb: Intermediate Tropical Casting

I use the PE4 on my Tenryu Furrary Racing 60lb rod, paired with a Shimano Stella SW 8000 reel.

This is a lovely combination for intermediate tropical lure fishing, where I want plenty of casting performance and strength without stepping up to my really heavy tackle.

PE#6 – 86lb: Heavy Jigging

For my heavier jigging setup, I use the PE6 Castman Blue Special with my Tenryu Big Fibre Jig rod and Shimano Stella SW reel.

When you're jigging for powerful fish, particularly in deeper water, having confidence in your braid is essential. This is a setup where I want strength, sensitivity and dependable performance.

Both strengths have proved themselves to me, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Castman Blue Special to anglers looking for a really high-quality Japanese braid.

My advice? Don't automatically choose the heaviest braid you can fit on your reel. Match the PE rating to your rod, reel, drag settings and the species you're targeting. Getting that balance right makes an enormous difference to how your tackle performs.
