Description
Tackle House Feed Shallow 155 – Large Shallow Running Bass Lure
The Tackle House Feed Shallow 155 is the big brother of the legendary Feed Shallow family, offering that wonderful rolling action in a much larger 155mm body.
I've been a huge fan of these lures since first testing the original Feed Shallow 128 on a fishing trip to Ireland back in 2008. We were amongst the first anglers and tackle shops to introduce them to the UK market, and it didn't take us long to realise just how special that rolling action was for catching bass!
The Feed Shallow 155 takes that same proven concept and gives you a much bigger baitfish profile.
At 155mm and 28g, it's an excellent choice when bass are feeding on larger baitfish such as mackerel, mullet or bigger sandeels, or simply when you want to present something with a little more presence in the water.
What makes this lure particularly interesting is its shallow running depth. Despite its considerable size, the 155 is designed to work just beneath the surface, diving to approximately 40cm.
This makes it a fantastic option for fishing over shallow reefs, weed-covered ground, rocky gullies and sandy beaches, where you want the attraction of a large lure without it constantly digging into the bottom.
The internal weight transfer system also helps with casting, making it a useful lure for covering water from the shore.
And just like the smaller Feed Shallows, you really don't need to do anything clever to make this lure work!
A steady straight retrieve allows the lure to produce that lovely natural rolling movement that has made the Feed Shallow range so successful.
No constant twitching or aggressive jerking required. Just cast it out, turn the handle and let the lure do its job.
Mick's Tip
I've always believed that the rolling action is the real secret behind the success of the Feed Shallow range, and the 155 gives you that same wonderful movement in a much larger lure.
Interestingly, the Feed Shallow 155 is hugely popular with bass anglers up in Alderney, where some of the lads absolutely swear by it! That's a pretty good recommendation in my book, especially from anglers who know their local waters so well.
Don't automatically assume that a large lure needs to be retrieved quickly or worked aggressively. Sometimes a big baitfish moving steadily through shallow water is exactly what a bass wants.
If you're fishing shallow ground and fancy trying a bigger presentation, the 155 is certainly worth having in your lure box.
