Tackle House Feed Shallow 128 – The Original Shallow Diving Bass Lure

The original Tackle House Feed Shallow 128 is one of those legendary Japanese bass lures that really changed the way we fished shallow ground.

I first tested these back in 2008 on a fishing trip to Ireland, when we were amongst the very first anglers and tackle shops to try them in the UK and Ireland. We instantly realised we had discovered something special!

It's that incredible rolling action that makes the Feed Shallow so effective. Rather than darting around aggressively, the lure produces a beautiful, natural side-to-side rolling movement that bass seem to find almost impossible to resist.

Designed to fish in just 1–2ft of water, the Feed Shallow 128 is absolutely brilliant over shallow, weed-covered reefs, rocky ground and even flat sandy beaches when wading.

One of its greatest strengths is just how easy it is to fish. You don't need to be constantly twitching, jerking or working the rod tip. In fact, a simple, steady retrieve is often all that's required. Just let the lure do the work!

Despite being a shallow-running lure, the internal weight transfer system gives it excellent casting distance, allowing you to cover plenty of water from the shore.

Mick's Tip

I've been fishing with the original Feed Shallow since 2008, and for me, the secret has always been its rolling action.

Don't feel you need to do anything clever with this lure. Cast it out, wind it back steadily and let that lovely rolling movement do its job. It's particularly effective when you're fishing shallow ground where deeper-diving minnows would constantly be catching weed or rocks.

Sometimes the simplest approach really is the best!
