Description
Shimano Tiagra 50W LRSA Lever Drag Reel
When it comes to Bluefin Tuna fishing, the Shimano Tiagra 50W LRSA has earned its reputation as the benchmark big game reel. For years, it has been the reel trusted by charter skippers, tournament anglers and serious offshore fishermen all over the world, and for good reason. It's built to handle huge fish, relentless pressure and season after season of hard use.
For UK Bluefin Tuna fishing, this is the reel I recommend when anglers want complete confidence in their tackle. Whether you're trolling spreader bars, large skirted lures, rigged baits or fishing live and dead baits, the Tiagra 50W LRSA has the strength, drag performance and reliability to handle whatever turns up behind the boat.
The one-piece cold-forged aluminium frame and spool provide exceptional strength while keeping everything perfectly aligned under extreme drag pressures. Inside, Shimano's legendary twin-drag system delivers incredibly smooth and consistent pressure throughout the fight, helping to protect your line while applying the stopping power needed to land the biggest tuna.
The two-speed gearing allows you to quickly retrieve line in high gear, before dropping into low gear when a fish settles into a deep, powerful fight. It's a feature you'll appreciate when battling large Bluefin that simply refuse to come to the surface.
One of the reasons the Tiagra has remained the reel of choice for so many years is its proven reliability. It isn't built for the occasional fish – it's built to withstand thousands of hours at sea, countless screaming runs and some of the toughest game fish on the planet. That's exactly why you'll find Tiagras on so many professional charter boats.
Matched with a quality 80lb class stand-up rod, or a bent butt trolling rod, the Shimano Tiagra 50W LRSA is perfectly suited to the Bluefin Tuna we now regularly encounter around the UK coastline. It's equally at home targeting giant tuna, marlin, broadbill swordfish and other heavyweight offshore species around the world.
If you're investing in a serious Bluefin Tuna setup, this is one reel you'll never regret buying. It has earned its place as one of the most respected big game reels ever made, and it continues to set the standard that others are judged against.
