Description
The Penn Conflict 8ft 2in 30-180g is a lightweight yet powerful offshore casting rod designed for anglers targeting hard-fighting pelagic species. Built using Penn’s advanced X-Wrap carbon construction, the rod offers excellent strength, reduced blank twist, and impressive responsiveness, making it ideal for working stickbaits, poppers, and metal lures over long sessions.
The 8ft 2in length provides superb casting distance and lure control, while the fast action delivers plenty of power in the butt section for applying pressure during tough fights. Finished with quality Fuji components and comfortable EVA grips, the Conflict is built to perform in demanding saltwater environments without compromising comfort or balance.
With many anglers here now realising not all our tuna are monsters, many are now taking 2 set-ups so when they see smaller fish feeding they can target with lighter rods like this!
Although Penn class this rod as a PE10 and 100lb line rated model, in practical fishing terms it feels considerably lighter in class. In our opinion, the rod is much more comparable to a PE4 setup and is better suited around the 60lb line class rather than a true heavy-duty 100lb line class tuna rod as they have stated. Because of this, it makes an excellent choice for intermediate tropical fishing applications, offering a more forgiving and enjoyable action when targeting smaller pelagic species.
The Penn Conflict 30-180g is therefore ideally suited to species such as bonito, dorado, jacks, and smaller tuna species, and we would recommend it for fish up to a maximum of around 50lb in weight for optimum performance and reliability.
Length: 8' 2" (2.5m)
Line rating: Max 100lb stated, but believe me this is a 60lb line max rod!!
